RUBY IBARRA

Ruby Ibarra is a rapper, spoken-word artist, and MPC beatmaker. Born in Tacloban, Philippines, she was introduced to rap at 5 years old when she caught a glimpse of a Francis Magalona performance on television. At that young age, she quickly memorized his lyrics in verbatim, and eventually grew an affinity for poetry and hip-hop when her family migrated to Hayward, California shortly after.

She released her first project, the Lost in Translation mixtape, in December 2012, which was hosted by DJ Kay Slay and premiered on Shade 45 Radio. She has been featured on noted web-based publications such as Worldstar Hip Hop, XXL Magazine, and MTV & VH1's blogs. Additionally, as a result of her mixtape and appearances on Team Backpack and The Cypher Effect videos, she has been featured on several articles on Buzzfeed, NPR, among others. Her debut full-length album CIRCA91 was released on October 3rd, 2017 on Beatrock Music. For more of her music and poetry, visit: www.rubyibarra.com
